
The delegation of the “Georgian Development Fund” was on a business visit in Brussels and Luxembourg and participated in the “European Long-Term Investors Association” (ELTI) and the mass events organized by the European Investment Bank (EIB) attended by high-ranking representatives of EU countries, heads of investment and development banks and representatives of business circles. The members of the Fund’s delegation included David Saganelidze, Executive Director of the Fund, Vazil Hudák, Chairman of the supervisory board, Besik Bugianishvili, Member of the Supervisory Board and Ioseb Mamukelashvili, Fund Director of the Financial Department.
The President of the European Investment Bank, Nadia Calviño, opened the European Investment Bank (EIB) Forum. Welcoming remarks to the participants were also delivered by Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden and the President of the European Council, Charles Michel. Key themes of the EIB Forum in the background of the current challenges evolved around growth prospects of the European economy, the provision of sustainable competitiveness, the challenges of climate change, and the promotion of innovation in green and digital technologies.
Within the framework of the forum, the delegation of “Georgian Development Fund” held meetings with the Director of the “European Investment Bank” regarding enlargement and matters of relations with neighboring countries, Lionel Rapaille, the Deputy of the European Investment Fund’s Director, Roger Havenith, Head of Private Equity of the “European Investment Bank”, Matthiu Ducoroy, Director of Technical Support, Joyce Liang and Rafal Rybacki, head of the public sector of Eastern Neighborhood of the European Union.
Within the framework of a business visit, the delegation of the “Georgian Development Fund” in Brussels, Kingdom of Belgium, also participated in a conference called “Funding Failures Elimination” organized by the EU and “European Long-Term Investors Association” attended by the representatives of EU countries development of financial institutes.
Within the framework of the conference the delegation members of “Georgian Development Fund” held a meeting with Dario Scannapieco, the Director of Italian state investment organization “Casa Depositi e Prestiti SpA (CDP). Parties discussed possibilities of future cooperation between the Fund and the Italian Development Bank.
Given that Dario Scannapieco is currently President of “Europe’s Long-Term Investors Association” (ELTI), parties at the meeting also discussed the abilities of “Georgian Development Fund” to join ELTI. Given Georgia’s EU membership candidate status, the Fund can become an ELTI Associate Member shortly. This, in turn, to the “Georgian Development Fund” gives new opportunities for deepening partnership relations with EU member countries and attracting foreign direct investment from Europe.
